I will begin today, honest, I will! How many times have you said or thought those words? And how many times did you not begin your project? TODAY is the day to begin!
Eight months ago I began my personal journey in improving my health. Why? Because the cost of Health Care Insurance is unbelievable. The first aspect in my health I am tackling is losing weight. How did I ever balloon to 289 pounds? Probably because I indulged and indulged. You know, inhaling a dozen doughnuts and not the doughnut holes. heeee heeee
In five months I was so thrilled to have lost 33 pounds. Successful weight loss is a combination of changing your diet, exercise and attitude. These are the steps I used:
1.Cutting fat by purchasing lower fat milk or trimmer meals. These are two easy ways to start cutting those NASTY calories.
2.Starting each meal with a mixed green SALAD. That's right greenery. How colorful can you make your salad by adding goodies, green or red peppers, nuts, mandarin oranges, purple onions INSTEAD of using calorie intent dressings? This will not only help get your vegetable serving, but it also cuts your appetite and you will eat less of the main (often calorie laden) entree.
3.When eating out, ask for your TO GO BOX immediately. Before you even begin munching down on that steak, cut it in half along with the side dish. Put them in the TO GO box. You will cut calories immediately and have another meal for later. This also saves you money!
4. Move MORE. Sounds silly but it is so important. Even small movements can make tremendous of difference. Instead of using the television remote, get up and change the channel. Simple, small activities assist in making long lasting change.
5. Do some type of an exercise or activity for at least 30 minutes a day. This can be walking, jogging, riding a bike, playing tennis. JUST DO SOME TYPE of an activity. Dance with your vacuum, dance while dusting. Be creative. (Begin in small time increments and build up. Remember you crawled before you walked!)
6. Stay positive. A positive outlook on life is one of the major characteristics of healthy people. Focus on the good in life, what is going right, and let the negative thoughts pass you by.
7. Reduce stress. This is a tough one and a big one for most people. Reducing your stress means either cutting stressful situations out of your life or dealing with stress differently.
8.Drink water. Have two glasses of water BEFORE a glass of wine. Your body is flushed thoroughly by drinking more and more water. Yes, it is a pain to go to the bathroom over and over. BUT that is a good thing for you.
9.Lastly, take baby steps with all the ideas above. One change at a time will allow the next breakthrough.
I was so excited when I lost those 33 pounds. AND then I hit the wall, the plateau. No weight loss for 3 weeks, no gain but nothing lost. I needed more help so I researched online all the offerings on weight loss and found a complete package with product and great ideas.
